Welcome to London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, United Kingdom

About the area

If you want to escape the downtown hustle, you would love renting a flat in Richmond – the most peaceful and picturesque place in London for those who can afford a piece of stately village life. This area constitutes a southwestern suburb of London, which is situated on the marvellous bank of the River Thames. Richmond has a long and illustrious history. Since the Middle Ages, it has been the home to English kings and queens as well as other famous and respected citizens, not least due to the beautiful landscape and fresh air. This area is considered to be one of the most prestigious parts of London, and that’s why real estate prices in Richmond are sky high. In the XIX century, many luxury Victorian and Georgian houses were built here, with stuccowork remaining beautiful to this day. Many of these houses are now architectural monuments, especially those with direct access to the river. However, there is also newer housing available in Richmond, built to echo the traditional style.

Lifestyle

Beyond architecture, the area is also well known for its amazing parks. The most famous among tourists and residents alike is Richmond Park, which covers the bank of the River Thames with gorgeous trees. In fact, it is home to deer that roam freely around the park. In June, Richmond Jazz Festival is usually held in this park. Another attraction is the Richmond Bridge, which boasts an impressive view of the Thames. Although Richmond is a retreat from the centre of London, it has its own range of pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets, as well as theatres and museums. More importantly, Richmond has excellent transport links, which can whisk you back to Central London in no time at all.
